1. i went to an amusement park with friends when i was 17, when getting ready to go on the bumper boats the attendant told me to not step on the rubber part... listening wasn't my strong suite so i stepped on the rubber part and fell in much to the amusement of everyone there.
2. for my 18th birthday my friends took me to see male strippers, my friend held money over my head and when the guy came to collect i refused to put it in his g-string and he called me a prude.

Hey Ihaveadream, Usually it was in civic centers. Guess they hold about 20,000. (just guessing) most all air conditioned. This was back in late 60's and 70's, for me. Dad worked with the publicity dept. Mom wouldn't let him out of her sight. So, I grew up, at assemblies, sitting in the press box, looking through binoculars at guys, and having all of the stuck up girls, be nice to me, to be invited to sit with me. LOL
Lady Lee, no pictures sorry. No taking a leak either. LOL You win.
Come on people, I thought about this thread at work, and looked forward to reading your brushes with greatness, or individual feats this evening.

I used to sit in the press box all of the time. But never with a famous person. My older brother thought he was all that, but he wasn't famous.

* Rode an elephant (twice) Sorry Lady Lee. As per TJ's rules. My town's claim to fame is "Circus City USA".
* In about 1996, Ray Ramano (Everybody Loves Raymond) was at Disneyland with his kids, I heard his voice about 20 feet away. I was able to get his autograph, without making a scene. He said I was the first one to recognize him in 3 hours. I kept it a secret, and saw him 2 more times that afternoon, and he smiled each time at me.
* I was 16 when my sister was born. She was 16 when my only child was born. She had her only child this morning. My daughter just turned 17. Thought that was kinda unique.
* I licked a tick in the dark. (Now I bet nobody can say that)
What about those round pit rooms in the old Peublo ruins in Colorado and New Mexico. I have been to so many as a child, I couldn't count them all.
How about Wal-Mart. All of those pagan celebrations, with their pagan symbolism. All sold by Wal-Mart!!!!! Such as Halloween. You can't go down many aisles that don't have something related to that ultra pagan holiday. (Which by the way, I spent $20.00 at Walmart, buying some of that pagan fun stuff.
i've read a lot of history on the home children, great depression..train kids...and so on and as i've heard politician after politician talk about a possible new depression era, i wonder if this is the beginning of another surge of abandonment.
there are already kids living in tent cities and cars and vans so i wonder if as the laws for the age of abandonment are increased, if we will see a surge in the coming years...sammieswife.. us shocked by spate of abandoned children 14 given up by parents under new nebraska law.

My mother hated me. I wish this law had been in effect when I was young. I would have stood a better chance at a better life.
All states should revise their laws, to include older children.
I would just like to receive this year, if that is OK. How can I put my name on the top of everybodies list?
Kinda like those Multi Marketing ventures. The people at the top, always prosper. '
i didn't want to hijack the suicide topic because it was a bit more serious than what i am about to say.
not that what i am about to say is comical.
i've been dealing with major depression for the past year and a half or so.
You can loosely put depression into 2 categories.
1. A chemical imbalance
2. Circumstances of your life, make you feel low, or despondent.
You can take antidepressants for the chemical imbalance.
The meds that would help with the latter, would be related to sleeping pills. You don't need them. I know, I am the queen of antidepressants.
My father had his life turned upside down, with taking care of my mother, and the financial and physical burden, she has imposed on him. He was depressed, and cried at times. He couldn't cope. He went to the Dr. to get antidepressants, Dr. said no.
It was #2, not #1. The Dr. ordered him to get help for mom and buy a back support for himself. He looked like he had scoliosis. Lifting a 200 pound dead-weight was and is hard. She wouldn't even help. It hurt for her to raise her arms to far. So she didn't. Now she can't even raise a toe. She is a self inflicted quadriplegic. But Jehovah will make her all better soon!!
I feel for you. I like FHN's post, but I can also see that Jehovah comes first to most. Maybe pick something from the meeting, and say it really bothers you, and research it together? I don't know, but meds are not the answer I don't think.
last night, as i was trying to get away from my 87 year old mother-in-law, to go out to eat, she showed me a picture.
it was a picture of her great-grandparents, with their 11 grown children.
i turned the picture over, and it said russell was their last name.

I turned the picture over, and it said Russell was their last name. I said it out loud, as my daughters boyfriends first name is Russell. As I was drifting off to sleep, it came to me, Charles Taze Russell. I remember she referred to them as a proper English family. And they had some money.
Ring any bells? I will ask her more later. My mother-in-law, has a long story about EVERYTHING!!
i think that simon's announcement that this venue was closing was the catalyst.
i looked around the other forums and realized i just don't need them anymore.
i have logged in here probably 10% of my former time since the announcement, first to do the 'admin' stuff that was happening immediately following - but now usually only once a day, maybe 10 minutes, and can't even find much of interest while i do that.
I can feel myself getting less interested everyday. Alot of it can be attributed to the closing of JWD.
